Sunscreen is a must.
Yes, it’s obvious that you need to wear sunscreen. Here are a few tips to maximize your sunscreen effectiveness:
- everyone should apply a sunscreen of at least SPF 15 - the fairer your complexion, the higher you should go
- be sure it contains a broad-spectrum agent that protects against UVA and UVB rays not all do so check the label
- apply it at least 15-20 minutes before you leave the house – it takes that long to kick into gear
- use a generous amount and reapply often – it only lasts for a couple of hours
- reapply after swimming or perspiring heavily.
Treat sunburns right away
You should avoid sunburns at all costs, but if you are burned get the inflammation down as soon as possible to minimize damage to the skin. Apply a towel soaked in a bowl of skim milk and ice to the area for 5–10 minutes. Follow this with an application of Waxelene. The anti-inflammatory properties of rosemary oil and beeswax found in Waxelene are great for soothing sunburn and the vitamin E prevents peeling.
Exfoliate and glow.
You’ll have a lot more skin showing in the summer months and the best way to get ready is to exfoliate on a regular basis. This gets rid of dead, dry skin cells and reveals the brighter, softer you underneath! In addition, pores become more pronounced in hot and humid weather and exfoliation helps to reduce that effect. And self-tanners will go on more smoothly if your skin is exfoliated, making them less likely to streak and maximizing your glow potential. You can pay for exfoliation treatments or buy over the counter scrubs....or you can simply combine Waxelene with sugar for an instant home-made, all natural body scrub.
Keep your skin hydrated.
Keep your skin hydrated.
After exfoliation, be sure to moisturize your skin. And then be sure to keep it moisturized. Nothing takes away that youthful summer glow faster than dry skin. And be sure that the moisturizer you choose is “noncomedogenic” meaning that it won’t clog pores or cause breakouts. Waxelene has been aerated so it doesn’t clog pores. It allows your skin to breathe. And its nurturing ingredients are gentle on sensitive skin and safe to use from your head to your toes.
Show off your feet.
Show off your feet.
It’s time to take out the sandals and flip flops and also to take a close look at your feet. If you have fungus or discoloration
of your toenails, there are topical whitening and antifungal agents you can try. If you have rough or dry skin, use Waxelene on those areas both to fend off dryness and to restore hydration. For severely dry feet (heels are often the worst), apply Waxelene and cover with socks just before you go to sleep at night. You should have beach ready feet in just a few days.
Prevent chafing.
Some find that wet bathing suits and wetsuits rubbing against their body, especially in the groin and inner thigh areas, can
cause discomfort and rashes. Apply Waxelene over all of the areas that may be subject to chafing. This will allow any material to move freely, without friction, over your skin.
Don’t forget your lips.
They need protection all year long since they are always exposed to the elements. Lip gloss and lip balm are often not enough to treat dry, chapped lips. In the past, you may have reached for petroleum jelly to treat severely dry lips. But the smell, greasy consistency, and the fact that it shares its origins with the fuel in your gas tank may have made you think twice before putting it on your lips. With Waxelene you get all of the benefits of petroleum jelly – plus it’s made with natural and organic ingredients like vitamin E and rosemary that actually nurture skin cells. With its smooth texture and healthy formula you won’t mind using it every day. Makeup artists have told us that they mix Waxelene with lip pencil to add subtle color to the lips and avoid the full lipstick effect – a perfect lip treatment for that fresh summer look.
Waxelene is the eco-friendly alternative to petroleum jelly. It has the same protective, waterproofing, moisturizing and soothing properties that doctors love, but contains no petroleum or hydrogenated oils. Waxelene’s ingredients include natural beeswax and oils like vitamin E and organic rosemary which soak in and nurture skin cells. Waxelene’s patent-pending aeration process gives it a silky smooth texture that won’t clog pores. Committed to the environment and healthy living, the makers of Waxelene endeavor to become more sustainable every day. From using natural and organic ingredients, to packaging in recyclable glass jars (no plastic!), to implementing energy-efficient practices, Waxelene is striving to do its part to prepare for a petroleum-free future.
