Mindful Parenting: Making Time

How often have you found yourself telling your kids, "Just a minute," and then never getting back to them to play that game or answer that question? Kids need to learn patience, but we also need to be present in their lives, and need to be able to be trusted to keep our word and get back to them. So here's a really easy suggestion - set a timer. If your kids want to play and you are in the middle of something, tell them 5 minutes (or however long you need) and then set a timer. Then they learn patience - and you keep your word to spend time with them.
