- Leave your lawn at three inches during the summer - it will be healthier with less watering.
- Use a rain barrel to water plants and trees in your yard.
- Use native plants - they're require less water.
- If you do water your lawn, water in the evening if you're in a dry climate, or in the morning if you're in a moist area - never in the hottest part of the day, when you'll lose more to evaporation.

- Use organic fertilizers to avoid runoff of chemicals.
