Insurance is sort of a necessary evil. Many people will pay for years
and years without ever needing it, and then have one claim. On the
other hand, you wouldn't want to get stuck without it if something major
happened. So it's important that you're getting the best bang for your
buck - that you aren't paying for more insurance than you need, or that
you aren't paying for for your level of coverage than you need to be.
There are lots of ways you can go about reviewing your coverage. You can go to sites like Home Owners Insurance Reviews or Health Insurance Reviews to have your insurance needs checked - you can even get specific, such as sites that look just at Medicare Reviews. Or you can manually go to a variety of your preferred insurance companies and compare policies that way.
When
comparing policies, make sure you're doing a true apples-to-apples
comparison. Many times lower quoted prices don't include all of the
features that your current policy may have, so it's important that you
know exactly what you're gaining or giving up by switching companies.
And sometimes, if you find a competing quote, you don't have to go
through the hassle of switching at all - just contact your current
agent, tell them what you've been able to find, and see if they can make
a similar deal.
